The theme for this month’s practice series is INVOKING.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” ~Martin Luther King Jr.
This week, may we be inspired by MLK to invoke the world we want to see. You can keep it simple or, if you’re inspired, use this as an opportunity to do something bold!
What do you want to invoke in this world? In your interactions with others? Take a moment now to pause and consider what is calling to you. Perhaps it is courage, compassion, respect, or understanding. Pick your word now and keep it in mind as you go through your week.
Practice: At least once this week, in an interaction with others:
- Say silently to yourself “I invoke …” and actively choose to invoke that quality in your interaction.
- Anytime you lose connection with what you are invoking, say it again to yourself silently.
- Notice how this affects the interaction.
You can do this with a stranger on the street, your lover, a family member, or a colleague. It’s up to you to decide how much to challenge yourself to invoke what matters most this week.
