We know women have been loving this way

women have been
loving this way                      since
                                                                the time               before               loving

through the             chasm
in the        earth                                 loving     like lush
                                                                             tendrils  curling
                                                                                             over concrete

And I know             hummingbird                 carries
the nectar                                         of my love                       her belly throbs

And I remember
                                            faintly
                                                           ocean too
                                                           salty & wild
                                                                                            holding me
                                                                                            in her wet            mouth
her opening wide
                                                                                                                          for all those              lovesick sailors
                                                                                                                          seekers            dreaming girls

rest in me            her beauty offered            and diminished not           her strength                        And I know

myself               my womb           my waves            will rise
as if the first                   wet light                                           breaking
